Friendly Saint's Building Works 4, Abbey United 1 (Maltby) 'Played on Midsummer Common on Saturday. Saint's were first to become in evidence. Hume scored two goals for them, then Maltby did the needful for United, and at half time Saint's were leading by 2 goals to 1. In the second half Hume and Barker scored for the Works, and then won by 4 goals to 1' (Local newspaper report at the time, taken from 'United In Endeavour' by Paul Daw.
